Meet the Chef

Nic Eve and Marcel Hattingh are the co-founders of Donkey Long Tong, a South African brand known for extra-long, high-quality stainless steel braai and fire tongs. The business began as a playful idea between friends around a campfire in the Richtersveld, inspired by scorched fingers and constantly bending over the fire. Together they have grown it from an inside joke into an internationally recognised brand, with sales and marketing reaching the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Nic favours patient, organic brand building, a strong workplace culture and product authenticity over aggressive expansion.

Taste the Recipe

Nic and Marcel show local entrepreneurs how to use Takealot’s marketing tools to increase visibility and maximise return on ad spend.
