I noticed how many of my other friends in school would also play games or know what I was talking about sometimes and I started attending these LAN events. All throughout this, I was a professional horse rider, I was doing dressage and that was my main outlet. It continued like that for a while, but when I turned 16, I started realizing that I was actually quite good at Call Of Duty. I started competing at events and that went really well. 

 A year later, I quit my studies without telling my mom, stole my passport out of her cupboard and flew to Taiwan for an event that I got paid to go do and I came back with a job opportunity.

We haven't had esports for that long in our society and therefore there are still some areas where I would say there's definitely still work to be done. Especially when it comes to team management, when it comes to player management, time management, and just generally expectations for people participating in games.

The biggest obstacle was settling into the role because I was always on the opposite end of that. I was always a player or an influencer, whereas now I am the owner. So I need to also think of how I would like to be managed and then manage other people that way.

I think there are two things that are kind of out there. Number one is that when hiring people, it's really important to establish a connection with people, that they want to benefit your business. I do that through video gaming, so I've played games with everybody that I'm trying to hire first.

I think there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes that people don't even know about. Gaming is such a colourful scape, such an awesome atmosphere where anything is possible already. It's only a matter of time before we live it in VR.

From my side, one of the processes was, for example, looking at brands that I looked up to when I started out as a fan of esports and doing it as a hobby. One of those brands that I would like to reference, and from a business perspective is just a good case study, is called Ninjas in Pyjamas.

You want to interact with something, you want to create an experience - and that user experience is best found in video games. So a lot of brands have tended to interact with games, game developers, gamers, influencers, gaming products and everything that they could find that is interactive. 

'Role model' is a really strong term for me because I feel like that person needs to showcase all the elements of what I want to achieve and I don't think I know one singular person that embodies the entire package for me. So I feel like I'm possibly my own role model because I'm working on myself so often with that.

I think the larger, bigger picture of that is that our country isn't fully ready to establish esports as fervently as it happens in the US, the UK and the really large industries.
