About This Recipe
When the government introduced new curriculum standards that required high schools to teach computer skills, Luvoyo Rani realised there was an opportunity for him to support teachers and create a high-impact business. The result was Silulo Ulutho Technologies, the business he co-founded with his brother.
From encouraging teachers to use a stokvel approach to purchase refurbished computers, to building his business around the values embodied in Ubuntu, Luvoyo’s company is a prime example of excellence and social impact.
With international funding and business planning support, Silulo Ulutho Technologies is well on its way to become a force for good that Luvuyo envisioned, while Luvuyo himself pursues his passion for helping black entrepreneurs scale their businesses.
This recipe is a masterclass in doing business in townships, and how connecting the disconnected can result in commercial success and social impact in equal measure.
