Focus on FinTech

The New Breed Of FinTech Startups

FinTech is the most exciting area in business right now. And so, we turn our focus to two amazing companies on the African continent: Yoco and Jumo.

Our first speakers for 2017 represent the new breed of finance. Young, smart and trail-blazing, Katlego Maphai and Andrew Watkins-Ball are two of the most exciting individuals working in this space.

Two very different companies, but with equally compelling stories, this event is not to be missed.

Katlego Maphai, CEO of Yoco

Katlego is the co-founder & CEO of Yoco, a South African fintech venture in the electronic payments space. Yoco offers an easy way for SMEs to securely accept card payments at the store or on the go.

Yoco’s simple pay-per-use pricing, no monthly fees, and fast turnaround time has made it the partner of choice for 6,000 SMEs in South Africa - 70% of which had never accepted card payments before. Yoco launched in October 2015.

Andrew Watkins-Ball, CEO of JUMO

Andrew Watkins-Ball is the founder and CEO of JUMO, a platform built to bring financial exclusion in the emerging markets to an end. JUMO is one of the most exciting and fastest growing technology companies on the African continent and has been featured on TechCrunch, TheNextWeb, BBC and Bloomberg. He successfully built various businesses including Gateway Telecommunications, a satellite service provider, sold to Vodafone for $675m in 2008.

This event was held at 6:30pm, 14th February at Primedia in Green Point, Cape Town, to an enthralled audience.
